Salisbury Steak

Ingredients—

For Patties/Meatballs—

2 lbs. Ground Beef

½ Cup Panko Breadcrumbs

2 TBSP Ketchup

1 TBSP Worcestershire Sauce

2 tsp Garlic Powder

1 tsp Smoked Paprika

1 tsp Celery Salt

1 tsp Cumin

1 tsp Basil

Salt and Pepper, to taste

¼ Cup Butter

For Gravy—

4 TBSP Butter

1 Large Onion, sliced

1 Cup Button Mushrooms, washed thoroughly and sliced

1 TBSP Garlic, minced

4 Cups Beef Stock

¼ Cup Flour

2 TBSP Ketchup

2 TBSP BBQ Sauce

1 Can Cream of Mushroom Soup

1 tsp Smoked Paprika

Salt and Pepper, to taste

Directions—

Step #1—

Add all the patty/meatball ingredients to a bowl, except for the butter. Mix well, using your hands. Shape into 8-10 patties, or 24 meatballs.

Step #2—

Add butter to a large skillet and heat over medium high heat. Let butter melt and coat the pan. Add patties/meatballs and cook evenly on all sides, adding more butter if necessary to keep from burning. Once your beef is cooked through, remove from heat and set aside.

Step #3—

In the same pan, add butter for gravy. Once melted, add sliced onion and mushrooms, and sauté until onions are translucent and mushrooms are soft. Add flour and minced garlic. Continue stirring for an additional minute or until roux is golden brown and garlic is fragrant.

Step #4—

Slowly add the beef broth, whisking constantly. Continue whisking for 3-5 minutes or until gravy is slightly thickened. Add ketchup, BBQ sauce, spices, and cream of mushroom soup. Stir until well combined. **If sauce is too thick, add more beef stock or water.

Step #5—

Add patties/meatballs back to the pan, coat them in gravy, and allow them to simmer for 3-5 minutes. Serve directly over buttery mashed potatoes. Enjoy the taste of heartwarming, stick-to-your-bones-good food. Rinse. Repeat.
