Seven Layer Salad
This Midwest tradition is the perfect dish to serve with leftovers or in the aftermath of a big celebration. Light, fresh, and so delicious, you will love this healthy alternative.
7 Layer Salad
Ingredients—
1 Head of Iceberg Lettuce, Chopped
1 Red Onion, Chopped
12 oz. Frozen Green Peas, Thawed
3 Stalks Celery, Chopped
1 ¼ Mayonnaise
2 TBSP White Sugar
1 ½ Cups Cheddar Cheese, Shredded
1 Pound Bacon, Cooked and Crumbled
**This is a traditional recipe, but feel free to get creative and add what you like. Chopped sweet peppers, green onions, craisins, blue cheese crumbles, hard boiled eggs, sunflower seeds etc. Really, you can’t go wrong with your fav salad toppings!

Step #1—
Prep all your ingredients. Chop veggies, cook bacon, shred cheese, etc. In a bowl, mix the mayonnaise and sugar together. Add salt and pepper if you’d like.
Step #2—
Using a 9x13 pan, layer your ingredients. Lettuce first, then onion, peas, and celery.
Step #3—
Spread your mayo mixture over celery layer. Then top with cheese and bacon. Refrigerate overnight. Serve the next day and be the leftover superstar your family has always known you are.
